  • Production from benzene: The production process of Carbolic Acid occurs with benzene as the starting material. The process involves the reaction of benzene with hydrogen peroxide to produce Carbolic Acid.

Carbolic acid, or phenol (C6H5OH), is a colorless to white crystalline solid with a characteristic sweet, tarry odor. It has a melting point of approximately 30°C and a boiling point of around 182°C, with a density of about 1.07 g/cm³. Carbolic acid is moderately soluble in water and more soluble in organic solvents like ethanol and ether. As a weak organic acid, it can donate protons to form phenolate ions and readily undergoes electrophilic aromatic substitution reactions due to the resonance stabilization of its aromatic ring.
