Homerun Resources Inc. completed the capital budget for a 350,000 tonnes per year industrial-grade silica sand purification plant in Brazil. The plant will produce 3N purity silica sand for solar glass and industrial markets, adding new supply capacity. The expansion could increase availability of high-purity quartz sand and potentially moderate prices.

Asia
Asian borosilicate glass conditions remained stable to firm during H1’26. Demand from pharmaceutical vials, cartridges, syringes, and other high-value drug-containment formats supported Type I glass consumption. Boron-related input costs strengthened toward June, increasing specialty-glass production pressure. However, abundant soda ash supply reduced broader raw-material inflation and prevented a sharper increase. Pharmaceutical-container capacity also continued expanding, improving availability as demand grew. These competing factors kept Asian markets supported without creating severe supply tightness.
Europe
European borosilicate glass markets maintained a firmer bias as biologics, injectable medicines, and ready-to-use pharmaceutical containers sustained demand for high-quality glass. High-value pharmaceutical packaging revenue increased strongly during the opening quarter, supporting consumption of vials, cartridges, and syringes. Meanwhile, additional tubular-glass capacity entered the regional supply chain through manufacturing expansion and integration. Higher energy and manufacturing costs supported producer offers, but capacity additions prevented demand growth from developing into a significant shortage.
North America
North American borosilicate glass conditions remained stable to moderately firm. Demand from biologics and GLP-1 therapies strengthened requirements for high-performance injectable-drug packaging, while additional pharmaceutical-container capacity was developed in Indiana. Domestic access to boron resources reduced some exposure to imported raw-material disruptions. Middle Eastern supply-chain disruptions during March also raised energy, freight, and chemical-input costs, providing additional manufacturing-cost support.
