Asia
In Asia, ethyl acetate prices witnessed an upward movement in Q1 2026. In India, prices were about INR 67.2/kg (EXW) in January and around INR 70.5/kg in March, reflecting a 2.5% increase, while on a quarter-on-quarter basis, prices rose by 4.4%. The rise was prompted by increased expenses of raw materials, such as acetic acid, and decreased supply, caused by logistics disruptions within the Middle East region. Delays in delivery via the Strait of Hormuz increased shipping prices and restricted supply. The downstream demand for paints and adhesives was stable and conservative, avoiding sharp rises.
Europe
In Europe, ethyl acetate prices displayed an oscillating pattern with an upward bias during the first quarter of 2026. The prices of acetic acid were bolstered by increasing costs of energy owing to the war in Iran, while logistic expenses were also high due to increased congestion around the Strait of Hormuz. The rise in production expenses as well as logistical charges supported the upward movement in the ethyl acetate prices. Nonetheless, the lack of demand from the coatings, ink, and packaging industries hampered any sharp increase.
North America
The ethyl acetate prices witnessed a wavering but firm pattern in Q1 2026 throughout the North American markets. Market followed the global pattern where there was a cost escalation due to increased cost of raw materials and energy, as geopolitical tensions resulted in higher crude oil prices, thus increasing the cost of ethyl acetate. Logistical issues and a shortage of ethyl acetate in the international market helped to sustain the market, whereas the domestic supplies remained stable.
Analyst Insight
According to Procurement Resource, in the near term, ethyl acetate prices are expected to remain firm with limited upside, as persistent supply disruptions and cost pressures continue while demand stays cautious.

Asia
In Asia, ethyl acetate prices mostly showed a mixed trend during Q4’25. In China and India, supply was generally balanced, but small regional shortages from maintenance at some plants gave temporary support to prices. Buyers in coatings, paints, and adhesives stayed cautious, purchasing mainly for immediate needs. Imports from other Asian countries continued steadily, keeping overall availability stable. In India, prices rose slightly in November but softened again in December, reflecting changes in local demand and seasonal restocking. The prices in the Indian market settled at around 699 USD/MT (EXW) in December’25. Overall, Asian markets moved moderately, without large swings.
Europe
In Europe, ethyl acetate prices stayed largely stable. Trading was slow due to weak downstream demand from industries like automotive, packaging, and pharmaceuticals. Logistics issues and high energy costs limited production increases, but imports from Asia kept supplies sufficient. Buyers delayed large purchases because of economic uncertainty, which reduced volatility in prices. Overall, the European market remained steady, with minor fluctuations.
North America
In North America, ethyl acetate prices were generally stable to slightly firm. Domestic producers managed supply carefully, avoiding excessive inventories. Demand from adhesives, coatings, and pharmaceutical sectors remained steady, supporting prices. Imports were moderate, and the market responded to changes in feedstock costs, particularly acetic acid and ethanol, which added small upward pressure.
Ethyl Acetate is a carboxylate ester. It is a colourless liquid that has a sweet, fruity odour that most people find pleasant. Ethyl Acetate is a polar aprotic solvent. It has two dipole moments, generated by its two high electronegative oxygen atoms, which are on the carbonyl and ethyl groups. Ethyl Acetate is a standard solvent, which is especially used for paints, varnishes, lacquers, cleaning, and perfumes. In a laboratory, Ethyl Acetate is used as a universal solvent in the process of thin-layer and column chromatography.

Ethyl Acetate is produced from the reaction of ethanol and acetic acid. The process includes a small amount of sulphuric acid to be preheated and then refluxed by feeding it into an esterifying column.
The mixture then goes through to a second refluxing column, to remove around 85% ethyl acetate. Then, the water is mixed and it causes a separation into two layers. The residue is then fed into another refluxing column to remove any final impurities to manufacture 95% Ethyl Acetate.
