Production Processes

  • Production of Piroctone Olamine via Esterification of 3,3’DMAA  

In this process, esterification of 3,3’DMAA and subsequent condensation produces isononayl derivatives of 3,3’ DMAA, which undergoes cyclisation in the presence of sodium methoxide followed by neutralisation to give crude 4-methyl-6-(2,4,4-trimetylpentyl)-2-pyrone. It is then purified using high vacuum distillation and further processed to finally react with monoethanolamine under chilled condition and form Crude Piroctone Olamine.
