Menthol Price Trend

Due to shortages in the past, menthol prices have increased by four times. To ensure a consistent mint supply, Indian farmers have been attempting to improve plant quality and growing procedures. Meanwhile, synthetic menthol is being produced by Symrise, Takasago, and BASF, which has relieved some of the market pressure on Indian natural menthol.

From 2019 to 2021, the price of natural menthol remained stable between 15-20 USD/kg. The Indian mint oil market was rather quiet in the first quarter of 2021. The price of mint oil reached a high of around 1025 INR/kg in January 2021, which was likely affected by the end of a new crop distillation in a certain area. The price dropped to 950 INR/kg in April 2021.
