After filtration, the solution is further purified by adding ferrous sulfate to get rid of remaining metallic impurities and all sulfur compounds. Finally, the deposition of manganese is carried out in a diaphragm cell by performing electrolysis of the highly purified solution under controlled conditions of the cell temperature (e.g., 35 degree Celsius), where the manganese metal is formed and deposited onto cathodes. The pure manganese is then stripped from the cathodes as the final product.
