Himadri Expands Carbon Black Capacity to 250,000 TPA with New Facility in Hooghly

Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd has officially begun the commercial operations of its newly commissioned 70,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) speciality carbon black production line at its Mahistikry manufacturing facility in Hooghly, West Bengal. This brownfield expansion brings the company’s total carbon black production capacity to 250,000 TPA. Among this, 130,000 TPA is dedicated to speciality carbon black production at the Mahistikry site, which now holds the distinction of being the world’s largest single-location speciality carbon black manufacturing facility.

The expansion significantly enhances Himadri’s speciality product portfolio, enabling the company to better serve high-performance applications in sectors such as plastics, inks, paints, coatings, and other niche markets. The new facility incorporates advanced process technologies, modern quality control systems, energy-efficient operations, and scalable infrastructure, all designed to ensure consistent production of premium carbon black grades for its global clientele.

Himadri's CMD and CEO, Anurag Choudhary, emphasized that the start of operations at the new 70,000 TPA line marks a pivotal moment in the company's growth within the advanced carbon materials sector. With Mahistikry now hosting the largest speciality carbon black production site globally, the company is well-positioned to capture growing global demand for high-performance, application-specific carbon black used in various industries. The expansion is expected to contribute significantly to Himadri’s revenue growth and enhance its margin profile, as the company gains a competitive edge through operational efficiencies, supply reliability, and the ability to quickly respond to market needs and innovations.

The positive development has been reflected in Himadri’s stock performance, with shares trading 0.70% higher at Rs 491.5 on the NSE. This expansion positions Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd as a leader in the carbon black industry, well-equipped to meet the evolving demands of global markets.
