  • IPL will build a new 400-ton-per-day chlor-alkali plant at its Dahej complex in Gujarat, with operations targeted for October 2026.
  • The facility uses advanced Japanese technology and is engineered for future expansion to 800 tons per day.
  • This project is a key forward integration move to boost domestic chlor-alkali supply and reduce import dependency for various industries.
  • Its integrated design will use the hydrogen by-product to feed IPL's existing adjacent hydrogen peroxide production, improving resource efficiency.
  • The investment aims to create a resilient, scaled manufacturing platform aligned with India's industrial and clean energy goals.

Indian Peroxide Limited (IPL) has announced plans to construct a new chlor-alkali facility at its existing manufacturing complex in Dahej, Gujarat. The 400-ton-per-day plant will be situated within the Dahej Special Economic Zone chemical hub and is scheduled to begin operations by October 2026.

This strategic project will utilize advanced Japanese process technology and is designed with the flexibility to expand its capacity to 800 tons per day. The new unit represents a key step in the company's forward integration strategy and is expected to strengthen the domestic supply of chlor-alkali products, reducing reliance on imports for downstream industries such as paper, textiles, and water treatment.

A significant feature of the project is its integrated design. The hydrogen produced as a by-product will be directly utilized in IPL's adjacent hydrogen peroxide production, enhancing overall resource efficiency. The company already operates a 300-ton-per-day hydrogen peroxide plant at the same site, which uses Swedish technology and serves both domestic and international markets.

Company leadership stated that the investment is a strategic move to build a resilient and scaled chemical manufacturing platform aligned with India's industrial and clean energy objectives. The integrated Dahej complex is positioned to function as a strategic hub for value-added chemical production, supporting Gujarat's manufacturing vision while aiming for greater operational efficiency and a reduced carbon footprint.
