GAIL will Become The Third Manufacturer of Isopropyl Alcohol as the Board Approve 50 KPTA at Ulsar, Maharashtra

Manufacturer of Isopropyl Alcohol

GAIL purchased a 26 percent ownership in GAIL Bhuwan Ship, LNG Japonica during the third quarter. The GAIL board has approved the construction of a 50 KTA (kilo tonnes) isopropanol unit (IPA) at Usar, where the PDHPP plant is currently under construction in order to diversify the company's operations by entering the specialised chemical area.

GAIL (India) Limited, which is a part of the Indian Government's Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, is the primary Gas Transmission and Marketing Company in India is. There are six LPG recovery units operated by GAIL in different Indian states. Usar's LPG recovery plant, which can process 5.0 MMSCMD of rich gas, was put into service in 1998. Presently, due to the lack of rich gas, the LPG Usar facility is shut down and in preservation mode.

GAIL intends to construct the GAIL Petrochemical Complex Project' Usar, wherein a 500 KTPA Propane Dehydrogenation unit combined with Polypropylene unit is proposed to be set up, using the land and other facilities already present at Usar. Engineer's India Limited (EIL) has been given the task of creating a feasibility report for the suggested project by M/s GAIL. At USAR, the proposed facilities will be set up alongside the current ones.

The proposed project will be based on GAIL-owned property, the existing facility's coastal location for both propane import and product evacuation, a close port facility, accessibility to major thoroughfares, and simplicity of obtaining environmental approval.

Isopropyl Alcohol

Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or isopropanol is a colourless liquid which is frequently used in sanitizers, cleaners, and disinfectants. It has a significant role in rubbing alcohol. Catalytic hydrogenation of acetone or indirect or direct hydration of propylene can all be used to make Isopropyl alcohol. Many businesses use the material to create a variety of industrial and household chemicals. It is also an essential part of a variety of chemical compositions, such as antiseptics, detergents, and disinfectants. Herbicide and pesticide formulation, ink creation, surface coatings, and resin production are some further specialised uses of Isopropyl alcohol.

Market Drivers of Isopropyl Alcohol

The demand for isopropyl alcohol (IPA) in India is mostly driven by its application in the pharmaceutical industry. Due to its superior disinfection properties, IPA is frequently used in the production of sanitizers and disinfectants, and this use is expected to increase over the projection period.

The isopropanol market is primarily driven by robust growth in the construction industry, rising investments in the chemical sector, rising demand for cosmetics and personal care products, and expanding pharmaceutical products in the country.

The demand from the paints and coatings sector is expected to rise in the following years as a result of its application in the building and automotive industries. By FY2030, it is predicted that the isopropyl alcohol (IPA) market will grow to a volume of about 360 000 tonnes.

Regional Outlook in the Market of Isopropyl Alcohol

West India has been the market leader in the region over the course of the historical period FY2015-FY2022. Because of the ports and large population of IPA consumers in western states like Gujarat and Maharashtra, consumption in the area is higher. Western states like Gujarat and Maharashtra have been the main users of isopropyl alcohol because large paint and coatings companies like Asian Paints and plasticiser producers are located in these areas.

The consumption of North India is second only to that of West India. Since the pharmaceutical industry is the largest end-user of isopropyl alcohol, the presence of sizable pharmaceutical firms in the region is one of the key factors driving the expansion of the isopropyl alcohol market in North India.
